I am a twenty-two-year-old Canadian who will be attending Cambrian College for Medical Laboratory Technology, though I personally wish for a more creative lifestyle than that which the title of Medical Technologist bestows upon me. Thinking thus, I dabble in photography, drawing (mainly realism-based pencil sketching), website design, and interior design (so basically, making my apartment look nice). For that matter, I’m also quite fond of the writing arts, and like to write poetry, short stories, and novels. I even keep a thought book, which is basically like a journal save that I can also put random thoughts in it and such (like a blog, but slightly more personalized). I like to knit and sew together toys, too.
I have a boyfriend (twenty-four and gorgeous) named Reed, and we go back and forth between his residence and my own. It’s a pretty decent setup save for the fact that his living space is out in the middle of nowhere. It’s so far, in fact, that while it’s still considered part of the Greater City, the closest bus stop is over an hour’s walk away. And the bus that services that stop only goes by every two hours–and only from eight in the morning until eleven and then two in the afternoon until midnight. It sucks. In any case, my boyfriend and I love to play video games, and he’s introduced me recently to the Star Wars expanded universe, which I didn’t even know existed, as my small bubble of Star Wars had never extended past the movies. Surprisingly (as I’m prejudiced against a fair amount of newer science fiction), it’s quite good and far more character-based than I had figured. So it’s currently a large part of my literary life. For anybody who actually reads Star Wars, I’m reading a lot of what occurs after the movies (and I’ve also read most literature from the Old Republic era, and have played KOTOR 1 + 2), and have read most of the novels that take place after the end of the Star Wars movies (up until the Legacy of the Force series), and have read most of what takes place before the movies. I’ve read most of the Omnibus stories, KOTOR (and I ADORE Zayne and Jarael!), Vector, the Clone Wars, Rebellion, Legacy (which is after, I know), the Darth Bane novels, and am now in the process of reading Clone Wars-era things (starting with The Approaching Storm). At this very moment in time, I’m reading Outbound Flight, which honestly proves to me once again that Admiral Thrawn was way awesome.
As an addendum, Reed and I are also both really big fans of horror movies, comedies, and just going to the movies in general. But then, who doesn’t like those sorts of things? Oh, and we also love the television shows Dexter, Battlestar Galactica (new), True Blood, Heroes, and Caprica. Yep, because we’re just not geeky enough. I also thoroughly enjoy watching Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese television dramas (most of which are based on manga). And girly anime (think Sailor Moon). But I don’t make Reed watch them with me (unless they’re super-awesome… like Nodame Cantabile).
I have a pet cat (named Bruce Wayne) who’s an enormous, fluffy, cuddly former-barn cat. His name derives from the fact that when you look at his black and white face, he appears to be wearing the Batman mask. Which is appropriate because both my boyfriend and I like Batman, too. Anyway, Bruce is a tubby little (not that little–he’s twenty-five pounds!) fluffs who adores pets and will rub his face all over you as a greeting to let you know that he’s missed you and wants you never to leave him ever again. What amazes me about him is that he’s so loving and adorable even after having been abused by his previous owners (who were dickheads). My Brucie gets over things very quickly–which also helps to make him perfect for photographing, because he gets over the camera flash so wondrously.
I live in an apartment in my family home, and my family consists of my father and mother, as well as a younger sister who lives in Toronto and is going to hairdressing school.
And this is who I am.
